School of Pharmacy academic policies (regarding such matters as academic and professional conduct, academic progress, honor roll, pass/fail registration, and independent study course work), can be found in the School of Pharmacy Student Handbook. It is essential that students enrolled in the School of Pharmacy become familiar with the Handbook.
Application materials may be obtained from the School of Pharmacy at www.pharmacy.wisc.edu beginning in early September. Information about the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) is available online.
Application materials (except PCAT scores and TOEFL/SPEAK/TSE (Type A) scores, for Pharm.D. admission only) must be postmarked by the published deadline; contact the School of Pharmacy Admissions Office or the UW-Madison pre-School of Pharmacy advisor for information.
Admission to both programs is selective and competitive.
An overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 (or 3.20 over the most recent 60 semester credits) is required for admission to the Pharm.D. program.
Completion of the required School of Pharmacy course requirements does not guarantee admission. Each applicant's admission credentials are considered not only on their own merit, but also in comparison with the credentials of other applicants.
The following criteria are used to evaluate each applicant for admission to the Pharm.D. program: academic achievement; communication skills; community service; completion of required pre-Pharm.D. course work; cultural competence; diversity of background and experiences; extracurricular activities; interest and experience in pharmacy and/or other health care areas and/or research; leadership experience; personal attributes; personal talents and skills and Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) scores.
