Specialized Science Minors

For Elementary Education Students

Consult with advising staff at Education Academic Services (EAS), Rust-Schreiner Halls, 115 North Orchard Street, 262-1651, regarding these minors.

Earth Science Minor

Complete a minimum of 24 credits from the following departments: Astronomy, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Geology, and Geography. Only Geography courses coded "P" (for Physical Science) may be used toward the minor requirements. At least 10 credits of the 24 credits must be numbered 200 or above. A minimum 2.75 grade point average is required, based on all UW-Madison course work included in this minor.

General Science or Broad Field Science Minor

Complete a minimum of 22 credits selected from one or more of the following areas. Courses must be taken from the departments indicated.

• Biology: departments of Botany, Zoology, and Bacteriology (Microbiology course listings)
• Chemistry: departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry
• Physics: Department of Physics
• Earth Science: departments of Astronomy, Geography (Physical Geography courses–coded "P"-only), Geology, and Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.

At least 10 of the 22 credits must be numbered 200 and above. A minimum 2.75 grade point average is required, based on all UW-Madison course work included in this minor.
